Cattery

Welcome to Nemausus Cattery, a registered british shorthair cattery under the NEMAUSUS prefix with the LOOF and the internationally recognized WCF. Here, quality and ethics are not just words; they are commitments.

Thoroughly Examined and Cared-For Cats

All our reproductors undergo rigorous genetic testing and receive regular veterinary care. Every purr you hear is a testament to our dedication to their well-being.

A Family-Oriented Cattery

Nemausus Cattery is first and foremost a family business. Our british shorthair cats live with us in our home, sharing our daily lives. We intentionally keep the number of reproductors low to ensure personalized attention for everyone and to maintain a balance between family life, professional life, and our feline treasures. With only a limited number of british shorthair kittens for sale each year, we are able to produce healthy, well-socialized beautiful kittens for you to enjoy as part of your family.

Two Programs, One Vision

Our cattery revolves around two distinct programs: the classic line with gold to copper eyes and the line with dominant blue eyes. We develop these programs in chocolate, cinnamon, lilac, and fawn coat colors, offering a palette of feline beauties.

A Local Heritage

The name of our cattery, NEMAUSUS, is inspired by local identity. Nemausus is the Roman name for the city of Nîmes, located on the Via Domitia in southern France. Living in a city so rich in history and sunshine is a privilege, as is seeing our Nemausus kittens flourish around the world. Currently, our british shorthair kittens live on three continents, a great recognition and immense pride for us.

My Personal Story

My journey with purebred cats began with Daša, a blue tortie Persian. Acquired at an exhibition in Slovenia for 250 German marks before the Yugoslav wars, Daša entered my life during a period of hyperinflation when local currency was too unstable to use. In the 1980s, purebred cats were just being introduced to my homeland, and my mother was one of the pioneers of Slovenian felinology. Daša became the foundation of our Persian breeding cattery, registered as BLACK POINT’S with FIFé, and it remains active to this day.

As a child, I grew up surrounded by the wonders of the feline world. My mother, an accountant by profession, volunteered as the treasurer for the Federation of Feline Associations of Slovenia (a FIFé member) for 30 years. She reluctantly stepped down in 2022 due to aging. After caring for her senior cats, she retired from breeding, ending a chapter we wrote together.

After completing my studies and earning two master’s degrees, love brought me to France, where I established my family. In 2017, to alleviate my mother’s solitude, I gifted her our first British Shorthair, imported from Russia. During this time, I also reflected on my autistic child’s future. Recognizing the benefits of animal-assisted therapy and knowing the challenges he would face in a traditional work environment, breeding naturally became part of my life again.

Thus, NEMAUSUS cattery was born, and it remains a family affair.
